Torben Larsen is a Specialist Chief Physician at Aalborg University Hospital, Denmark. Dr Larsen has previously attended medical school and completed a PhD at Aarhus University in Denmark.
Dr Larsen has presented at more than 15 congresses, including the State of the Heart 2010 Conference, University of Uppsala, Sweden; 2012 Cardiostim Congress, Nice, France, and 2015 European Society of Cardiology Congress, London, UK. Dr Larsen also has 20 years’ experience in pre- and postgraduate teaching at the University of Aarhus, University of Southern Denmark and Aalborg University.
Dr Larsen was appointed to fellow of the European Society of Cardiology in 2014. He is a member of the Nordic Stroke Society, ESC Thrombosis working group, ESC Working Group on Cardiovascular Pharmacotherapy and Scientific Initiatives committee under European Heart Rhythm Association. Dr Larsen is also a board member of The Danish Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis, working group member in the Danish Society of Cardiology and a working group member in the Danish Society of Cardiology.
As of 2012, Dr Larsen was assigned as an external expert on anticoagulant treatment for the Danish health and medicines authority.
Dr Larsen has co-authored more than 180 publications and acted as Section Editor of Scientific Reports for the Nature Publishing Group. He has also reviewed scientific journals including Heart (British Medical Journal), the American Heart Journal, Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), Lancet and the New England Journal of Medicine.
